Task performance can be used as collaborative indicators of how a project or a business process is being run. It is generally assumed that better task performance means higher project development or process progress, because task performance is a causal link between phases and stages of a project or process. The task performance checklist helps initiate a project or start a process, and characterize their progress.

Preparation
- Clearly establish task responsibilities per employee
- Define and prioritize task responsibilities
- Learn lessons from previous task performance evaluations and identify previous issues
- Clearly determine standards of performance in measurable terms
- Discuss previous task performance breaches with the employees
- Eliminate or at least mitigate any hassles against the employees' control related to task performance (e.g. poor motivation, lack of time, bad training, etc.)
Discussion on the first meeting
- Schedule the first meeting
- Review the first meeting schedule to the employees
- Review and discuss prioritized task responsibilities with your employees
- Review and discuss defined task performance standards with your employees
- Clearly demonstrate employee contributions and strengths
- Clarify task performance breaches in measurable terms
- Check how the employees understand performance breaches by asking them to re-state the breaches and issues
- Involve your employees in developing new ideas for improving task performance (e.g. brainstorm method)
- End the meeting on a major and supportive note
- Maintain documents on the meeting and register all ideas and proposals, expectations and attitudes
