Effective group collaboration checklist

 

Generally, high performance of project teams is based on how the team members collaborate with each other and how well they communicate with the team leader. This checklist answers the question 'What makes the teams collaborative?' and let you create effective collaborative group of people.

  1. Setting objectives

Effective collaboration is based on properly set objectives. Clear objectives provide the group members with an idea of their worthiness, importance, opportunity, identification and challenge. These goals appeals to the environment and climate in which people operate. Clear objectives allow each member to join the whole group and group's tasks. The team leader should establish collaboration objectives that are based on interdependency among the group members.

  1. Communication

Collaborative efforts depend on open and clear communication. Collaboration can be based on formal and non-formal channels of communication. Formal .communication between the leaders and the team members is aimed at support project running and resolve issues throughout the project progress. Non-formal communication channel lets the leaders create conditions for strengthening inside cooperation between the group members.

  1. Sustainable collaborative efforts

Sustainability of collaboration is essential as the group members needs to be provided with sustained membership, resources, and strategic planning. Project should have enough resource and development efforts to ensure that the appropriate number of time and people are available to conduct the group's collaboration efforts. Strategic planning should be short-term and long-term. It helps identify collaboration trends and issues and develop solutions.

  1. Climate in group

Group climate is a set of conditions and factors that determines specific environment in which the group members communicate and cooperate with each other. Healthy internal climate ensures positive development of the collaboration. Most groups of people with the identified internal climate will better ensure a mutually inclusive membership within the collaboration. It is important that the team leaders understand which members in the group need to be influenced to create robust climate.

  1. In-place regulations

Effective collaboration means solving problems in strict cooperation by transforming and using policies and laws. Collaboration is more likely to succeed if supportive policies, rules, and statements are regulated in place. Sustainability of collaborate efforts often depends on in-place policies and practices.
